It can be lonely working by yourself in your business, can’t it? Especially if you’re someone who is very creative and you enjoy chatting to others about your ideas.
- Making all the decisions on the business direction and marketing, and what to outsource
- Having lots of new ideas but nobody to chat to about them to sense check them
- Plodding away at making things happen but feeling like you’re not getting anywhere and you want to give up
- Feeling disheartened when nobody comments on your social media posts or contacts you about your services
- Not having anyone to celebrate with at the end of a successful launch or consultancy project
- Changing your mind a lot because you don’t have someone working beside you to remind you of your goals.
What’s the solution?
I don’t have all the answers, but the ones that spring to mind are:
- Find a business partner if that works for what you’re doing and your business ambitions
- Collaborate with others on projects that interest you both/all and where you bring different strengths and backgrounds
- Find someone to talk to who is a good sounding board, whether as a paid service (eg a coach, mentor) or a business friend who can offer mentoring or accountability in exchange for a business skill that you offer
- And/or join a community of like-minded business owners or freelancers.
What have you found that helps with feeling alone in your business?
I offer a range of services that involve me listening to ideas and business challenges – sometimes they involve me planning, untangling or making suggestions, sometimes just holding space for you in a coaching call.
