I’ve been away from this blog for a few months and only just published another post. Why?
At first it was because I was busy and didn’t have time to write at all.
Then I had a few weeks of coaching at the time I’d normally write, so I didn’t create anything new.
And just before Christmas I decided I was going to step away from social media and blogging so I could focus on a writing project.
But I missed blogging!
The idea of stepping away from social media and blogging was so I could focus on collecting my own thoughts, not worrying about what everyone else was doing, and not writing things specifically to share – just writing things because I wanted to and because they were part of the project.
However, a couple of weeks into the writing project I realised that it wasn’t going in the direction I had thought it would. I was planning to update a draft e-book about my freelance and creative story by adding a new structure to it. But it didn’t work. I was trying to do two completely different things.
I decided to go back to the original draft of the e-book and just get on and publish it.
And the new writing project still needs shaping. It’s not ready to develop further yet. That’s one of my reasons for coming back to this blog. Because it helps me figure things out. It helps me work out which topics I like talking about, and which ones work well when I write about them.
Why do I miss blogging?
Because it’s part of my thought process.
Because I like sharing what I’m writing, sharing my thoughts with other people.
Because I like sharing useful knowledge or ideas, and adding my own thoughts to them.
Because I’m much better at explaining things in a blog post than I am when I speak.
Because I like putting my writing together with images.
Because I like the fact that sharing a blog post creates the opportunity to start a conversation with someone about a topic.
So that’s why I came back to my blog. And that’s why I’ll be posting regularly again.
Why do you read blogs? Do you also write one? Why?
